Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
The short version: the files you open in Data Engineer Toolkit are read and processed entirely in your browser (via DuckDB-WebAssembly). Their contents are never uploaded to us or anyone else. This page explains the limited data we do handle — mainly for analytics and advertising — and your choices.
Your files never leave your browser
When you open, query, convert, or export a file, all of that happens locally on your device. We do not receive, store, or have any access to your file contents, column values, or rows. URLs you explicitly paste (e.g. a public S3/GCS link) are fetched by your browser, not by us.
Information we process
- File contents: none — see above.
- Usage analytics: we may use a privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics tool (e.g. Plausible) that does not use cookies or collect personally identifying information.
- Advertising:we may show ads via Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and personalize ads and measure performance, and may process data as described in Google’s policies. Ad scripts only see page context (such as the URL and cookies) — never your file data.
- Waitlist email: if you submit your email on the pricing page, we store it solely to notify you when paid plans launch.
- Account data (if/when accounts launch): if you create an account, our auth provider (Clerk) processes your email and login details.
Cookies
We don’t set our own tracking cookies. Google AdSense may set cookies for advertising; for visitors in the EEA/UK, ads are served subject to a consent prompt. Auth session cookies are only used if you create an account.
Third-party services
- Google AdSense — advertising. See How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Vercel — hosting and CDN; processes standard request logs.
- Plausible (if enabled) — cookieless analytics.
- Clerk (if accounts are enabled) — authentication.
Your choices & rights
- Opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ad Settings and aboutads.info.
- If you’re in the EEA/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA/CPRA), you have rights to access, correct, or delete the limited personal data we hold (e.g. a waitlist email). Contact us to exercise them.
Data retention
We never retain file data. Waitlist emails are kept until paid plans launch or you ask us to remove yours.
Children
This service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll revise the “last updated” date above when we do.
